How do I use
BreachGuard?
A simple test will tell you if the program is
functioning properly.
Before you start ,please make sure you have test credit card numbers.

Webmail
Account Test

Login to
your webmail account for example Yahoo,Gmail,Hotmail, you can even use outlook or anyother pop3 mail account.

Compose a
new message with the test credit card number .For testing purposes
you can send this email to yourself by using your own email
address.

After you
are done composing the email message, click the "Send"
button.

If
BreachGuard is running it will alert (alert will be
highlighted with a green background.) you regarding the
insecure transmission of credit card data in clear-text.

Click on
the alert (background will change from green to dark blue)
and right click to choose the desired "Allow" or "Block"
action. You can also click on the alert and press the "Allow" or "Block" button on the program’s main window.
Instant Messenger Test

Log in to your favorite
Instant Messenger
-
Send a message to your family
member or friend with the test credit card number.

Before the message is sent
,the program will alert you regarding the
insecure transmission of credit card data in clear-text.

Click on
the alert (background will change from green to dark blue)
and right click to choose the desired "Allow" or "Block"
action. You can also click on the alert and press the
"Allow" or "Block" button on the program’s main window.
Important Note: You may see the recipient receiving the credit card number
in conversation area of the instant messenger software window after you opted to block
the transmission, do not panic as the program drops the
network packet containing the credit card number in
clear-text
The best way to verify is to
ask the recipient if they received the test credit card
number
File Scanner Test

The File Scanner can be
launched by going to Start menu > Program Files >
BreachGuard > File Scanner OR by
right clicking on the program icon running in the system
tray and selecting "File Scanner".

From the File Scanner window
-
Click on the browse button and
select the storage drive, file or directory you wish to
scan. Click on the "Scan" button to start the scanning
process (Tip: to stop the scanning process, press the "Stop"
button

The scan after completion will
show the total number of files scanned including the number
of files where credit card data was detected stored in
clear-text.

Click on the view log button
to view the log file by going to Start menu > Program Files > BreachGuard > View Log OR by
right clicking on the program icon running in the system
tray and selecting "View Log".

You can click on the file path
/ name (colored in blue) to open the file from the file
scanner log viewer.
